Anagram Origins
I began composing music in high school. I had a strong background in film and worked on several student shorts that required original scores for submission. By the time I started college I had a collection of guitar-driven punk and indie rock songs that I showcased to start a band. Although nothing developed beyond jam sessions and brief collaborations I continued to explore different styles and eventually took on all aspects of recording.

Music is dying. Slowly, but it is. I don’t want to be one of those close-minded people who lives in the glorious pinnacle of the past, but we can all agree that the quality of the music industry has declined intensely since the second half of the past century. Today’s standards of what is labeled as art are worrying. Why do we live in such an artistic wasteland, you might ask?
The GDC’s of Songwriting
It is not uncommon for artists to create bodies of work surrounding one incident, such as a breakup; Adele’s 21, and Joni Mitchell’s Blue come to mind as examples of this very thing. Myself, I went through a heartbreaking experience over four years ago which created the agony I needed to inspire myself to pick up a guitar and begin writing in a big way. I believe that that pain was the push I needed to put me where I am today. I released my debut album two months ago.

In addition to music, Major Moment is very active in issues including mental health, depression, and substance abuse. Our first EP “one small stEP” is dedicated to Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who took his own life due to depression.

Major Moment is a fairly new band, but already has plenty of stories to be told. Uniting members born on four different continents, and speaking different languages, in Boston, MA in early 2017, coming from different backgrounds, the band is disrupting the steadily declining rock music scene with their heavy guitar riffs, emotional lyrics, melodic vocals, and multi-layered synth pads.

The shortest version of this story is I drove 8 hours to watch my dad die and then wrote a song about other things. Also here is a picture of my mom’s dog and I. It seems to make that first sentence sting a little less.

Life is complicated. It’s filled with ups, downs, ins, outs, widths, lengths, and any dimension that you can think of. We are in a world of over 8 billion people. Each person with their own unique mind and chemical make up. If that’s not complex, I don’t know what is. That means billions of personalities and trillion of possibilities. Yet, as different as we are, we are also very similar.
