Major Moment is a fairly new band, but already has plenty of stories to be told. Uniting members born on four different continents, and speaking different languages, in Boston, MA in early 2017, coming from different backgrounds, the band is disrupting the steadily declining rock music scene with their heavy guitar riffs, emotional lyrics, melodic vocals, and multi-layered synth pads.

One cold November evening, the rats escaped. My future bandmate and current roommate Claire and I scrambled to get the rats back into their cage, still half asleep. Now that they knew how to get out, though, it was only a matter of time before it happened again. And happen again it did. After a few nights of rude awakenings, I realized that to stop the rats, I would need to become something else. A worthy adversary. And thus Bad Rat was born.
My story. It started with hosting/producing a public cable access TV show out of a mid-western Canadian city that focused on the local music scene in 1989. I was a teenager who wanted to know more than just what mainstream Top 40 could offer me. Though I had an extreme interest in music, I knew nothing about playing it myself other than some power chords I could figure out, by luck and patience, listening to some Heavy Metal and Punk songs. The first song I partially was able to play was “Shout At the Devil” by Motley Crue. Then some Blues chords would follow, and an individual mix began to take place. Wonders what could be next?
I’ve jumped around from thing to thing for as long as I can remember. I grew up waterskiing competitively, then gave it up to move across the country to major in theater, and pursued music journalism. All that time I was writing music and sharing it with no one aside from a few close friends. It was a hobby, a flight, a fancy; something to do on flights, car rides, or while waiting for an appointment. Writing has always been an integral part of my being and music, in my experience, is a transcendent mechanism. So I finally shared my music with more than just a few close friends.
There is no other band that we know of, which sounds like JUST LIKE HONEY. Maybe that is because we never play cover versions of other people’s songs. We recently noticed that also Joy Division never played any cover versions. We love this thought.

The song Too Late off our recently released EP Smoke Signals, which to the naked ear sounds like a love song about two people who are realizing they may be near the end of their relationship is, in fact, an analogy of a story that happened to myself and a friend of mine while backpacking across Europe.
I’m 25 years old, living in Central New York. I often think about taking a one-way ticket to the West Coast, specifically like Los Angeles, or Seattle. I have been working on putting out what I believe is the best I can do with what I have. I’ve recorded hundreds of songs, I have written over 790 poems. I do what I do because I love art. Music is awesome. I’m not attempting to re-invent the wheel. I don’t want to sound the same. I’m not looking to fit into standards.
