Last year, I wrote, recorded, mixed, marketed and released a full length album with no team, no money, and far too much time on my hands. Impressed? Don’t be, I don’t have a life,,,

When the daily grind seems without purpose creating music is my way out. This was of course not by intent or design. I guess what drove me into making music as a solo-project (from playing bass in bands since I was 14 or 15 years old) was mostly curiosity. Could I record at home? How does it work and what can I do?

Nice to meet you Everyone in the world. 初めまして、私の名前はモデです。I am making music from Japan. I use electronics and guitar etc. It is chill out with ennui. I would like to introduce my music.

There is a form of magic in life that allows us to flow kindly, and that magic is born from the nature of our thoughts.

I’m kind of scared (and in love at once) of many life facts: The wild past times, the humanity, the death, the giant modern space, the concept of “fate”, etc;
Those fears inspire me to compose my ambient songs.

This is the 7th album I’ve released – the follow up to its twin, On The Way. I’ve largely made ambient, electronic-esque music. My first 5 releases were instrumental. On The Way and As A Kite mark a shift towards pop songwriting for me. I would love to talk at length about what I’ve learned about music from making it and recording at home in my laundry room over the years, but I think for brevity’s sake it would be best to keep the conversation to this one album. I hope if you like what you hear that you will explore my older works as well, and find some value in my story and my music, and I hope I can reciprocate something for you. That’s all this is about in the end anyway, isn’t it?

sometime in 1979, i went to the whiskey a go go with some friends to see randy hansen, the jimi hendrix impersonator. while i liked music as a kid, but hendrix was the first music i really dug. i can’t remember how many of us were there, maybe 3 or 4 kids, age around 14.
the show was amazing. randy came out in a coffin with purple dry ice, and he did a good job of impersonating hendrix hits. while i’d been to a number of big venue concerts, this was the first club gig i’d ever been to.
a few weeks later, we went back to the whiskey to see another show…

we’ve put on a band that’s not particularly average, so to say.
i’m one of the few that’s been there from the beginning and i’ve seen people come and go, but one thing always stayed the same: the reason why we do this.

As I was born by the Baltic Sea, (and this is way before I found out that I am a Cancerian), I had always been intrigued by her beauty. As if she’s a rose made of sequins one minute and then a shape-shifting platform of liquid frequencies the next…
