Writing Light felt like a silent eye opener for me. The kind that doesn’t announce itself but lands softly. It came right before I was about to fully jump into a new beginning, letting go. Not a dramatic revelation. Just a quiet, honest look at what I was leaving behind, and what I was choosing to carry forward.

It feels ironic to be releasing my song ‘Better’ at a time where it appears the world is, in fact, doing worse. Civil rights and liberties are being rolled back while our governments flirt with the idea of World War III, and yet, when I finished this song several years ago, I thought to myself, “I’ll release this when the world is better”. But as I’m getting older, I’m learning life is more nuanced than that. You can’t wait for the world to be better, you can’t wait for the world to give you permission to find your joy.

JVWN — which stands for Just Vibing With the Now — is more than just a name; it’s a whole vibe, a way of life, and a philosophy that defines how we make music. We’re all about being present in the moment, letting the energy around us guide what we create, and finding inspiration in everything happening right now. Each of us brings something unique to the table, but together, our approach to music is one of freedom, expression, and constant growth.
My somewhat modest success in the good ol’ music biz came rather late in life, and almost completely by accident. Although, having said that, a lot of hard work had gone into making that accident happen.

I guess to start things off I didn’t really have this direct introduction to music as blatantly most people get it (I think). You could say I kinda got ushered into it slowly during the period of 14 to 20ish.
Around my mid-teens, I started writing poetry in my native language which is Flemish (same as dutch), and in that same period, I also got into dancing, particularly in the styles hip-hop, poppin’, and bboying. Being a dancer and mainly educating myself in the field choreography, I got in contact with a lot of the musical influences that show themselves in my work today.
I think of people like: Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Sholomo, Clams Casino; and the list goes on…
I remember my dance tutor having this immense iTunes library, and after a lot nagging, I got him to put it on my blackberry tablet (hahaha). Having that period in my life gave me a passion for music in general, And helped me to develop my taste.
Originality is what makes you different. Stop copying others instead of bringing uniqueness into your work. Let the world know who you are and what stuff you are made of.
Music is like a fine wine; it got you entwined in its life-changing taste. Like the finest damsel, it got you caught its charms. To many of us, music is a love we never want to let go.
Like they always say, “nothing good comes easy” as true as it sounds. It takes hard work, patience, resources, and most importantly, time. Just like refining gold from its ore requires a lot of work, so it is with whatever venture we embark on.
Passion is the driving wheel to success without which our dreams won’t be realized. It is the driving force for achievement.
Let me start by saying that, the journey of life begins once one is born and ends at death, but in some cases, your journey exceeds your death, and that depends on how you lived your life. Though none of us decided how we were going to be born or where we were going to be born but how we were going to die solely and wholly depend on us.
