If you think music is the soundtrack to your life, you might be under the impression that life is a movie. It’s not.

Indie
Sometimes used interchangeably with “guitar pop rock”, in the mid-1980s, the term “indie” began to be used to describe the music produced on punk and post-punk labels. During the 1990s, Grunge bands broke into the mainstream, and the term lost its original counter-cultural meaning. Yet, it became associated with the bands and genres that remained dedicated to their independent status. By the end of the 1990s it developed subgenres and related styles including lo-fi, noise pop, emo, slowcore, post-rock and math rock. In the 2000s, changes in the music industry and in music technology enabled a new wave of indie rock bands to achieve mainstream success.

Music as Magick. Magick as Music

The Sun looked like a prison break. I woke up in a suburb of Seattle and stared drowsily out of a stranger’s bedroom window. My wife was talking to an admirer of hers around the scattered ashes of a campfire from the night before. There was a mysterious text message from an unknown number on the blue screen of a broken iPhone. It was clear that the veils to what folks call the spirit world were perceptibly thin. Little hints of future memory flickered with mischievous honesty through the cracked wallpaper in the shadows of the room.
If you’re in love; be the difference!
by Firgun

What if you couldn’t love the difference in the world?
All the excitement of feeling love, fear, hope…
You would be someone else; but who?
We are nothing more than a bunch of insecurities and uncertainties!
We are always lost in a dark room; full with presumption and bad mood…
But we just want to be happy!
It’s simpler than we think…
Really! I’ll show it to you!
It’s all about the lyrics

What to write about? I am a singer-songwriter. I play solo, with an acoustic trio or a five-piece electric band called The Key Collective. My compositions cover everything from political, thought-provoking folk (the Bob Dylan’s of the 2000s) to what has been coined “LA Grunge,” an electric alternative sound. In the last few years, I have been working at getting “back to the garden,” to creativity. I am a writer, an artist, and musician; my Expressive Therapy side.
Pink Mirror – A version of events

This is an account of ‘Pink Mirror’, the second album by UK singer-songwriter Jeremy Tuplin, by myself, Jeremy Tuplin. I don’t intend to provide any absolute or dictatorial interpretation of the songs on the album, or the record as a whole, as I would never want to do that, but I’m happy to shed some light on the thought processes and ideas that led to them, and it, having kindly been asked to by mySoundposter.
The Tomlinson Tapes
by c o m r

Throughout our recent albums, we’ve strung a story. The story of a beloved friend. The story is continuing to this day, as he is still on his journey, we are only the messengers.
It began in New Jersey. Jeffrey Tomlinson was a young boy. He’d faced problems with his mother. She hid things from Jeffrey; things he may never have wanted to find.
Believe in Your Ability to Lead a Creative Life

My EP, When Pigs Fly, is the first body of music I’ve ever released. I purchased my first guitar little over a year and a half ago and only began writing songs after a year of learning to play guitar. However, when I found out how enjoyable it was to write songs, I knew that I was onto something.
Metapop Track-by-Track
by Luis DH

For most artists, songs and albums are like snapshots of periods of time and their lives at those moments. Creating and expressing yourself can be both a healing and a learning experience – to know more about yourself and the world around you.
Last year I went through the worst and messiest breakup ever. I saw things I thought I would never see. I got to witness the ugliest part of human nature, and it was truly heartbreaking – and the ultimate test in life.
But I survived.
And I decided to express all those feelings through songs.
This is the story behind every track on my latest album, “メタポップ (Metapop).”
Exploring the Ghosts of the Past
by SYBLING

Hello there!
We are sisters Alice Makwaia and Mariana Quinn-Makwaia. We make up the duo SYBLING.
We have lived in New York City just about our entire lives, and we like to think our music mirrors our NewYorker-ness (eclectic and a bit mysterious).
Thawing Out From Depression
by Red Bovine

To begin, the album took about a year to finish, from writing to final production. Ultimately, I think it describes a period of thawing out from a pretty deep depression. The loss of several family members, a big move from Illinois to Oregon to live closer to my sisters after graduating from college to begin processing a lot of dark stuff that was hanging over me. So this album was a product of that time, of coping, thawing and trying to navigate my way back to somewhere that would hopefully be a lot healthier.
