I remember when I first started the OctoMusic project; I was still playing in my previous band back in 2017-2018. I was kind of tired of playing in that four-piece format, and I just felt we weren’t moving the whole thing forward, so that was the perfect time for me to start working on my own thing. I began releasing different singles and working with a couple of other musicians. When you do everything by yourself, it is very challenging as you have to establish your own deadlines and you have nobody to share the workload with, like when you are in a band, but it’s also very comforting as you can produce your music with much more depth.

What to write about? I am a singer-songwriter. I play solo, with an acoustic trio or a five-piece electric band called The Key Collective. My compositions cover everything from political, thought-provoking folk (the Bob Dylan’s of the 2000s) to what has been coined “LA Grunge,” an electric alternative sound. In the last few years, I have been working at getting “back to the garden,” to creativity. I am a writer, an artist, and musician; my Expressive Therapy side.

Baba Brinkman - Rapper with a Cause

We are proud to feature Baba Brinkman as our artist of the week. In over one and a half decades he has produced 19 albums. That is more than a record per year on average! Much more, with his thematic “literature” and “science rap” Baba has also done ten theatre shows over the time. During March and April, he is performing his newest program The Rap Guide to Consciousness Off-Broadway in New York City.
