Digital Queer Aesthetics

My name is Ava and Ben, I use they/them pronouns, and I make music as Hegemonix. I’ve recently been exploring online queer aesthetics via electronic music and music videos. I’ve been using digital instruments and my physical body to communicate my exploration of having a non-binary gender identity. And when the phenomenon did cease, the rock told the man, “I shall call you ‘Grampfather.'”

In the aftermath of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the end of a long-term relationship, I was on a manic tear and writing songs at lightning speed. At the time, my late-night escapades included a lot of flings and raging substance use — this was the only way I knew how to manage my symptoms at the time. I wasn’t exactly treating my bipolar disorder with traditional medicine or therapy.
A Dangerous Ride with The BuzzHounds

Heavily influenced by such artists as Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Townes Van Zandt, and The Rolling Stones, The BuzzHounds meld alternative vocal stylings with Delta Blues and 70’s Outlaw Country to form their own brand of Americana and Rock n Roll.
