Freedom of Expression

Plastic Dents

Music is the closest thing to God for me, to spirituality. To freedom of expression and all things mysterious in the universe. It means more to me every day. I dabble in whatever sounds I like under a single name — Plastic Dents — doing my damndest to follow my muse and subvert audience expectations, as well as my own.

Lately, I have been working primarily with improvisation techniques — just pick up a guitar or lay down some single-take tracks and see what happens. Usually, this leads me to places that can never precisely be recreated or pull something out of me I could’ve never communicated by laboring out a written or pre-conceived song.

I used this process on a recent release of mine, “My Theatre Teacher Ruined My Life!!!” which is made of spontaneous iPhone recordings — I can move on from a feeling, but there it is forever captured in its purest audio form.

I also occasionally enjoy producing electronic music, and my vaporwave influence is undoubtedly part of that! “hitsmaster,” my latest release, is entirely inspired by my own sense of nostalgia, as well as classic vaporwave styles — warping small sections of tracks into new ideas, like zooming in on a piece of a painting to find something new and exciting about it.

And so, I continue my search for the sounds!
