by Jonas Franck a.k.a. Corpse Feet

Why call it Corpse Feet? No one, to my knowledge, can survive death, so I guess we’re all just corpse feet walking until we lay…
Here’s how it went.
It was in the late 70s, and I was just a few years old. I had seen a man with his guitar on our black and white TV, probably Elvis Jailhouse Rock, and immediately wanted to be that. So, I grabbed a tennis racket at a birthday party and got up on the table to do my first show.

Growing up listening to and digging a weird mixture of disco, calypso, rockabilly, synthpop, and metal – and studying jazz has made me a versatile musician with a broad palette. Having learned music from the age of 8, I now play multiple instruments. I started on guitar, moved on to drums to get an output for my aggression, then back to guitar to get up front on stage, harmonica, and a bit of piano until I ended up on bass guitar because I was the poorer guitar player in the band and also was assigned to sing. This was back in 1990.
Fast forward almost 30 years. I play in a band where we’re supposed to write songs for upcoming stars. We needed someone to sing the demo vocals. We looked and searched but found no one. I had been singing lead vocals 25 years earlier and backing vocals and lullabies over the years. So I thought, what the hell? I’ll give it a go. Lo and behold, what came out of me was actually not all crap.
It has taken me some 45 years, but never say never. I decided to give it a go when I had just moved to a new city. It was in the middle of the pandemic, and there were no gigs, and I had no bands to play in. I sat down and started writing and rewriting songs. I ended up with 42 decent songs and demos.
I was supposed to make a Heavy Metal or at least a Rock album, but I failed epically. Only you, the listener, can tell what it is. Some call it shoegaze-prog, others 90’s basement. What that is, I don’t know.
I now have 25 songs that I will release this year in lumps of 4-5 under various titles: Losing (L), Loathing (A), Loving (P), Looking (S), Longing (E), and Leaving (D). Lyrically, I’m looking deep at life, the world around me, and inside me.
Glad to have you along. And if you’re a bandcamper, you’ll always get access to the music about a week earlier than the rest of the world.
