Our former artists of the week, Hot Flash Heat Wave from San Francisco, released their new single Glo Ride in early March. They also spent almost the full month of March on tour co-heading with No Vacation.
Glo Ride
All four band members wrote the new single Glo Ride together. It is supposed to be on their soon coming new album. You can buy it on Bandcamp for “name your price.” The new song is less rockin’ but much moodier. No doubt, the familiarity with their tour mates No Vacation is by no means ignorable.
Hot Flash Heat Wave
Like so many others, the origins of Hot Flash Heat Wave can be found in the high school in a small town. Adam, Ted, Nathaniel, and Nick met and bonded through participation in a small, tight-knit community of musicians. They put on a slew of DIY shows in parents’ garages and local venues. Later, the four started to write and record under the same roof in San Francisco.
Their debut LP Neapolitan was released in 2015. The band calls the sound on their first record
“candied hooks, fuzzy guitars and tunes reminiscent of The Smiths gone new wave.”
The second album, Soaked, published in the summer of 2017, introduced a more diverse and groovy approach to their shimmering dream-pop sound.
The band is in the process of releasing their third full-length album this spring, and will also play at the Golden Gate Park on August, 10.
