The importance of magic –
Creating space for the extraordinary is an art form

“There is a place in the heart that/ will never be filled / a space / and even during / the best moments / and / the greatest times.” Charles Bukowski (You get so alone at times that it just makes sense)

The universe is full of magical things and insightful signs.

However, like the sun is sometimes completely out of sight, hidden behind the thickest winter fog and grey skies, it can be hard to connect with it when going through certain moments or chapters of our lives. Magic can seem out of reach or, worse, forever gone.

How I experience the world and everyday life is a rare and precious gift I am very grateful for. It also comes with frequently struggling with finding balance and peace.

I have so much joy to share and so much darkness in me that I still wonder how can these two coexist with such intensity within the same person? And what to do with such parameters?

Listen to the album while reading the text.

Music and art are my answers.

It’s where I find comfort, hope, consolation, inspiration, beauty, transformation, connection to the invisible and the mysterious that makes life worth living. Music and art are a way to transcend experiences and a possibility to draw inspiration from it and create a meaningful body of work.

So, whenever a family member, a friend, a partner, or even someone you barely know is going through something difficult or something amazing and wonderful, one of the most powerful things we can do to be with them in that moment, is to find a way to show them something magical. A message hidden in the unusually striking texture of a flower. A pigeon feather on the ground that says “keep going, you’re on the right track even if you don’t know it yet”. A pair of glorious red – that perfect red, like the lipstick worn by David Lynch’s heroines – boots in a window that suddenly inspires you. Listening to the voice in your head that suggests going to certain places even if it does not seem to make sense.

My new album is called “Dawn Breakers”.

When combined, “Dawn” and “Breaker” can be interpreted in several ways.

This expression is often used metaphorically to describe an entity, person, idea, or event that disrupts a certain order of things, ends a situation, and brings about significant change. In literature and poetry, the expression describes a person with innovative ideas that bring new ways of doing or seeing things to society or that will have a positive impact on the lives of others. It is also associated with mythical characters or the power that the universe holds when it comes to bringing light and wisdom to individuals.

“Dawn Breakers” is more than just a combination of words; it is a poetic expression that carries with it profound meanings of change and a powerful symbol of transformation.

Do you know how I came up with this evocative album title? When I saw it! It was exactly what I had been wanting to convey: this expression, written on a vintage shirt. Why did I look at this detail in that moment, as I was browsing through almost endless racks of clothes? I could have looked at so many other pieces. I could not have paid attention. But I did. This one second of specific attention. The magic.
