“Time” –
where you were
and what you became.
Did it match up?
“Time” proved to be a very reflective piece of work. It is about looking back over the years, seeing where you were and what you became. Did it match up? Invariably it doesn’t but is that ok? Essentially it highlights how plans that are made don’t quite go how you think they will over the course of time. Relationships. Even the ones that work suffer and experience pain.
Being a big fan of Prefab Sprout has inevitably made its impact on this song. The choiral aaahhs and swoons in the background give a nod to Wendy Smith’s input in the band. Perhaps there is also a little sprinkling of Crowded House thrown into the pot, particularly with the guitar work.
Contemplative, melancholic and haunting, a piece to play over again over “Time“.
