With Bob Dylan winning the Nobel prize for literature in 2017, it is finally official that song lyrics are literature. Well, not all of course, but still. What can be said for a song text in general, is even more true with rap music. Our artist of the week, Baba Brinkman, is proof in several ways.
This week’s featured artist Baba Brinkman has a rich discography. Since 2004, he has a total of 23 releases. On top of that, he also produced 10 theatre shows, wrote a book and several articles, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and a Master of Arts degree in Comparative Literature, and also studied human evolution and primatology. A productive man indeed!
In 2014 and 2015, our featured artist Baba Brinkman realized his Rap Guide to Religion. It’s one part rap concert, one part comedy and one part TED talk. Most of all, it’s science explained in a very modern and entertaining manner. It has already been the third of Baba’s Rap Guides, his fifth and newest is playing at the Soho Playhouse in New York during all of March and April.

The multinational eight-piece collective Superorganism, who met via music forums in 2016 and now lives together in a house together in east London, just released their self-titled debut-album on Domino Records.
